No matter which country you came from, this book will ring true in your heart, for you will always have one foot in one place and long for the other. I cannot read this beautiful picture book without a lump of longing in my throat, for even though I came to America from a country far away from Japan, the carefully chosen words intertwined with spectacular watercolors speak to me directly. The art of a great picture book is that it soars beyond the pages and connects hearts from all parts of the world. Allen Say is a true "Sensei" and I can only say,"Domo arrigato gozaimas."
